Businesses have had to shift, shimmy, pivot & pirouette since the global outbreak of the pandemic. Forget having a nip-&-a-tuck. Sister Snog is going for a complete makeover. The repurposed, repackaged & revamped membership club will be ready for a new wave of quarterly & annual members in the autumn. By invitation only.
Like many small but perfectly formed entrepreneurial businesses the global pandemic and resulting period of #lockdown was a total shocker. One minute preparations were in place for an early bird Business Boosting Breakfast at The Allbright. The next minute The Allbright was shut down until further notice. And so were the other venues that hosted Sister Snog’s bi-monthly Plum Workshops and First Friday Business Lunches. There were two options. Option 1: Go underground until normal services were resumed and put life on hold. Option 2: Rise to the challenge. Embrace technology. Repurpose, repackage, remodel and pirouette.
Sister Snog chose Option 2. Turned the live events into zoominars to keep connecting members. And took a step back to take a step forward and prepare for a new normal in the new economy.
What was the pre-lockdown business model like?
Membership was on a mutually selective basis and by invitation only to ensure there was a good match between new members and existing members, expectations-&-deliverables as well as synergy-&-chemistry. Membership was on an annual basis and members connected with each other at a calendar of 31 sparkling business events. Sister Snog was a club that behaved like a tribe.
Who are the female founders behind the brand?
A double act. Who have been working together for two decades. Annie Brooks is the heart & spark of the business. Hela Wozniak-Kay is the soul & spirit. They are the #yinandyang of a brand that was created by women, for women with business women’s needs, wants and desires at the core of the proposition.
If there are any other questions how do I get in touch?
Annie & Hela love curious people with an inquisitive nature. So if you’d like to chat to either of them pick up the phone. Even better if it’s on #telephonetuesday. Or if you’d like a response in writing drop them an email - with a little hint in the subject header.
Sisters are both Warrior Women and Wonder Women. Ambitious and adventurous. Curious and generous. They see the value of being part of a tribe of like-minded peers. Of changemakers, trailblazers and decision makers. Sister Snog is a magnet for entrepreneurs, giant thinkers with big ideas with an all consuming desire to succeed and be self sufficient. On their terms.
What type of business sectors are welcomed at Sister Snog?
If there’s a woman with a business idea that she has taken to market then that business is welcomed at Sister Snog. However she has to a decision maker, hold the purse strings and have influence or control of the brand. Which is why Sister Snog never accepts members from individuals who work as a distributor, network marketer or for a multi-level network marketing organisation.
Do you accept members from the corporate sector?
Traditionally Sister Snog is the Voice of the Female Founder. However the world is changing and times are changing. So today, while the business landscape is topsy turvy, the doors are open, on a monthly membership basis, for all women in business with an entrepreneurial spirit or an intrapreneurial flair, who see and sign up to the value of being connected.
Is there a restriction on the number of businesses from a sector?
Sister Snog believes competition is healthy. So there is no lock-out on that basis. However saturation can be suffocating - and if there’s an over represented sector then out comes the waiting list.
Sister Snog MEMBERSHIP
Why are you offering a monthly & quarterly membership package?
At the moment the world is living day-by-day, week-by-week and month-by-month.
Sister Snog can confidently deliver a bundle of benefits on a monthly & quarterly basis and continue to add value to members.
What are the plans for Sister Snog in 2021?
While the outlook varies by industry, it would be naive to expect business as usual and a return to the 'good-old-pre-pandemic-days'. A State of Normalcy is waiting in the wings, where the savvy founder chooses to insulate their business from future shocks & vaccinate their brand against disruptive outbreaks.
In response Sister Snog is now refining-& building a new-membership-model on a platform - due for launch in 2021- that can support an active and buoyant business community of female founders. It will be turning up the volume on ways to connect, collaborate and co-operate under the New Economy of Sisterliness while having the safety and well being of the key team players and members of the tribe 110% front of mind.
Who should I contact if I have any membership questions?
Please contact either Annie (the heart of Sister Snog) or Hela (the soul of Sister Snog) by email in the first instance:
They will either respond by email or arrange a phone call.
Sister Snog offers a VIP personal service and both Annie and Hela love connecting, engaging and interacting with members.
Sister Snog MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE
If I join as a monthly member what happens at the end of the month?
If you have the Sisterly vibe and it's clear that Sister Snog is your tribe you will be invited to carry on with your membership on QUARTERLY basis.
The monthly membership is open to brand new Sisters only.
A month gives enough time to for both parties to see if the shoe fits.
Do you supply a list of all the members?
Sister Snog is a private members club. We respect their right to privacy and observe GDPR Guidelines by not making a printable list of members available. All bookers to a zoominar are sent a guest list via email.
How long will you be offering a monthly membership option?
Until the end of December 2020. Plans in the pipeline for January 2021 that will be revealed in December.
What happens if I book a zoominar and can’t make it?
This together with Zoomsters' Virtual Etiquette Guide is in the footer of every event on Eventbrite. Here’s the relevant section relating to cancellations : Sister Snog requires at least two working days' notice to cancel this event booking. The notice MUST be by email to [email protected] and be acknowledged by Sister Snog.
When do you plan to host live events again?
Sister Snog started hosting events in February 2002. In all that time there has only ever been one postponement of a First Friday business lunch. Which was in 2018. Due to the Beast From The East. The event was re-scheduled two weeks later.
This is the first pandemic in the history of Sister Snog. Which means unchartered territory. At #snogtowers we are being carefully cautious and waiting to see what Government Guidelines are released, what the events industry advises, what members say and what our corporate conscience will allow.
As we are currently restricted to 6 people pods for any face-to-face events there are no live events planned for 2020.
Is being in an engagement pod mandatory?
No, not at all. However the whole point of being a member of Sister Snog is to connect and engage with members of the Tribe. Engagement pods are one way to keep connecting while boosting your digital footprint.
But everyone has their own fave platform. And if The Gram doesn't rock your boat you can still engage via the other social channels.
How often am I expected to engage with members of my pod?
We’re all busy so there’s no set time to post or regularity required. However - in order to get something from the pod you need to contribute to it too.
Can I change pods?
Only if you have an extremely good reason which as to be set out in writing and emailed to [email protected]
What happens if a member leaves Sister Snog?
All pod members will be notified via the podchat if a member leaves @sistersnog or is removed from the pod for some other reason.
How many members will there be in each pod?
Instapods are a new social initiative at Sister Snog however, based on research, the maximum number in each pod has been set at 32 (the limit for on numbers on the Instagram group chat).
